The future of the food truck industry looks nothing but promising due to their extreme popularity. As technology continues to grow, new types of social methods will be introduced to the world that food trucks and other businesses will have the ability to utilize.

Tamera Jenson and Kevin Finch hold high hopes for a future app where customers can track trucks in real time. She also hopes for more visuals where customers can post and share photos of their food directly linked to an app.

There has been so much hype around it, but is social media here to stay? Finch stated his opinion, “Social media is here to stay—but I don’t think in terms of Facebook. In five years it will be obsolete and there will be a new kind of social media platform replacing it. “ But for now, Facebook is going strong and has proven to be a great tool for all food trucks.

As it turns out, El GastronÓmo Vagabundo first started their business when Twitter was just starting to take off, and can’t imagine the industry without it “It was coincidental that we started at the same time twitter was taking off. The industry is greatly effected by social media so it’s difficult to separate the two.” Jenson certainly doesn’t see the food truck industry without social media and believes it’s here to stay, “I think it’s going to evolve more and more so it’s more intuitive and more useful. It’s just going to keep evolving.”

There is no doubt that social media was the spark that started the food truck fire. Before social media the industry the food truck industry was obsolete. Terrilea Pitton describes social media as “a complete game changer for the industry” and emphasizes that food trucks would not exist without it.
